Packed, maskless rallies and marches are Covid super-spreader events. Though less young people are dying, they still spread Covid to others. More spread equals more deaths. See map of world vaccination rates by country. Many events are virtual online events.
31 Mar 2021: New York Becomes 15th State To Legalize Marijuana.. "Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed a bill Wednesday [March 31, 2021] ... The legislation automatically clears the records of those with past marijuana-related convictions ... State lawmakers passed the legislation mainly along party lines late Tuesday, [clueless Republicans opposed it]."
22 Jan 2021: Recreational marijuana sales kick off in Arizona.. "Recreational marijuana sales have started in Arizona, with many of the state's medical-marijuana dispensaries getting the OK on Friday [Jan 22, 2021] to open sales to anyone 21 or older. ... It is the fastest that any of the 15 states with recreational marijuana has gone from voter approval [Nov 3, 2020] to actual sales."
15 Jan 2021:Local Massachusetts Lawmakers Unanimously Approve Psychedelics Decriminalization Measure. "Oakland, Santa Cruz and Ann Arbor—have also decriminalized possession of plant-and fungi-based psychedelics. In Oregon, November’s election saw the passage of a historic initiative to legalize psilocybin mushrooms for therapeutic purposes. ... Much of this reform progress can be traced back to Denver, which became the first city in the country to decriminalize psilocybin mushrooms in May 2019."
People here in Tampere are becoming quite aware of the "hamppumarssi" (marijuana march) and now they need to be informed how widespread the march really is.
This year (2008) is becoming clearly the year of the house searches.. Local police officers have already busted more home growers than in the whole last year. So it's going to be a significant publicity while the audience (local people) will hear about police statistics. Courtrooms are filled with drug cases, not always related to cannabis. But this is a good opportunity to get the message to the people in the rat race. I and my fellow organizers are going to make the point very clear to the audience and to the officers that this cannot continue anymore. There has to be a solution to rewrite some laws or attitudes.
While EU is still lagging in changing the political views concerning medical use and entertainment (al), we must affect on local peoples minds that hemp is a very useful thing and productive material in every sense.
On the last years march , we had 100-200 people and had great time and lots of cool people and some speeches also. In fact i think we had a little degeneration in audience [in 2008] compared to last years...
People are not taking the Marijuana March too seriously. My wise guess is that there are tens of thousands of people (Tampere) supporting marijuana but they are afraid to join the work because of its abstraction..
We have lots of young people that dare and care about it but we need also the approval of older generations for this drug to become widely available. It's very common in Tampere to know someone who grows for itself and home growing has become the main source of cannabis here. We have been heralding to establish the first coffee shop in Finland. It would be complicated but eventually, someone will stand up and take the destination for himself to become a national hero among us! After all, the story of Amsterdam began from the same cratch, too. (could i make myself anymore obscure..)
Too much people is over exaggerating their fears to show up and to become stigmatized as a criminal.
Next year it will be called something like "Hamppumarssi X" because it's been organized this far already 9 times in Finland. The concept is going to change for something better and bigger and more public. We have lots of volunteers who are able to organize their own familiar fields with goods. So there's gonna be like a circus in the middle of the town. I'm very excited.
Ronald Reagan, 1980 campaign speech: "Leading medical researchers are coming to the conclusion that marijuana, pot, grass whatever you want to call it, is probably the most dangerous drug in the United States, and we haven't begun to find out all of the ill effects, but they are permanent ill effects. The loss of memory for example."
"By 2019, Americans earning less than $30,000 a year would be worse off under the Senate bill, CBO found. By 2021, Americans earning $40,000 or less would be net losers, and by 2027, most people earning less than $75,000 a year would be worse off. On the flip side, millionaires and those earning $100,000 to $500,000 would be big beneficiaries".
US federal minimum wage timeline below. Top line is adjusted for inflation. Middle class prosperity peaked under Truman and Roosevelt in the 1950s due to steep progressive taxation where the middle class paid less. And the minimum wage was increased. That also pushed up middle class wages.
10 Jul 2018: National (US) Pay Trends. "Since 2006, wages have risen 12.9 percent overall in the US. But when you factor in inflation, real wages' have actually fallen 9.3 percent. In other words, the income for a typical worker today buys them less than it did in 2006."
"Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration."
Overpopulation equals less greenspace, more stress, more pollution, less biodiversity, less rainforests, fewer parks, more noise, more carbon dioxide, more global warming, higher seas, more frequent hurricanes, more climate change, more drought, more climate refugees, less resources, more poverty.
Many clueless Republican leaders deny it all. They also block simple single-payer, public-option healthcare without deductibles, copays, and premiums. Something that seniors, and everybody else with health problems, needs in order to work part time as one is able. Healthcare completely separate from work and income level.
So dumbass politicians need to work on that instead of trying to incentivize more babies. And truly universal healthcare costs less since it encourages more preventive care, and doesn't need big wasteful health insurance bureaucracies. And politicians need to incentivize more hempcrete construction, so that carbon levels go down.
